International Students

Princeton University students and alumni who are not permanent residents of the United States may enroll in the program for the University Certificate in Teacher Preparation, but they cannot receive NJ teacher certification. According to federal law, all non-U.S. citizens wishing to obtain teaching license/ certification must sign an affidavit of intent to become a citizen within five years. Holders of temporary visas are not permitted to make that pledge. Once the Program in Teacher Preparation requirements have been met and a green card obtained, international students are eligible for NJ license/certification.
