I never even imagined I'd be a teacher. Halfway through my undergraduate time at Princeton, however, I began to reconsider my career trajectory. I joined the Teacher Prep Program (TPP) because I realized the opportunity and joy in serving future generations and helping students realize their potential. Being in TPP was an incredible experience for me, as I found the professors and staff highly dedicated to the belief that all students deserve the best education possible. Some of my most memorable experiences in TPP were conversations with my professors and even many of my students about what practices I could establish or change to become a teacher who supports growth and achievement for all students. The support I myself had to become a better teacher, to better serve students, was incredible, and it transformed how I approach teaching.
I completed my student teaching in English Language Arts at Trenton Central High School. After student teaching, I worked as a substitute teacher at Trenton Central before moving out to California. I currently teach English Language Arts and English Language Development at Dorsey High School in Los Angeles. I'm honored to be part of students' growth, especially as we explore life through literature.
