Dr. Jessica Monaghan, Assistant Director of STEM for Teacher Prep, shares her experience integrating outdoor experiential learning in the classroom in NSTA's latest issue of Connected Science Learning. Read, "Integrated Outdoor and Classroom Science Experiences to Support Civic Engagement Among Middle and High School Students" to see how outdoor experiential learning helped students make meaningful connections to socioscientific issues in their secondary science classroom and the world around them! As director of the summer QUEST program, Dr. Monaghan brings this insight to area teachers who are engaged in deepening their own understanding of socioscientific issues through experiential learning with professors, scientists, and researchers on such topics as climate change, iron ore mining, energy sources like fusion, and declining pollinators.
