Event Description

Are you mesmerized by the beauty of underwater organisms like fish? Have you wondered about the similarities and differences of fish forms across habitats? What do body traits and shapes of fish indicate about environmental factors and vice versa? Explore these questions and more about the interplay of machine learning in biology through experiential learning during this QUEST unit!

Along with peer educators, you will dive into questions about local fish through the lens of “structure and function”. Prepare to venture outdoors for hands-on field investigations: taking pictures of fish, collecting and analyzing data from images, and comparing local fish to curated images from existing ‘big data’ fish collections to answer your initial questions.
