The Program in Teacher Preparation is proud to congratulate Sophia Alvarez ’18, Kristin Hauge ‘18, and Ally Markovich ’17 for their nomination for the 2019 New Jersey Distinguished Clinical Intern Award. Fifteen student teachers are selected for the award each year by the New Jersey Department of Education, recognizing the recipients as the top graduates from the 25 educator preparation programs in New Jersey’s colleges and universities. Sophia Alvarez and Kristin Hauge were both honored as recipients of the award. The awards were presented in a ceremony on June 12, and the Commissioner of Education of New Jersey, Dr. Lamont Repollet, spoke at the event. Sophia Alvarez did her student teaching in social studies at Trenton Central High School under the mentorship of William Pyper. Kristin Hauge was a music candidate and student taught at East Brunswick High School and was hosted by Dr. Arvin Gopal. Ally Markovich student taught in English at the Communications community of Trenton Central High School under the guidance of Jessica Kupiec. Congratulations to Sophia, Kristin and Ally and their host teachers on this recognition of their outstanding performance as student teachers!
